How to Prep your Nails
Share
1. Push back your cuticles
Use the curved side of the cuticle pusher and gently push back your cuticles.
-
Try not to scrape the nail, just focus on lightly pressing cuticles back off nailbed.
-
This provides more space for the colour and also prevents lifting.
2. File the surface
Find your 180 grit Pro file .
-
Gently file the entire nail plate to remove the shine.
-
Don't overdo it – the goal is to make the surface a little rough, without thinning the natural nail.
3. Shape your nails
Use the same 180 file to smooth and shape your nails just the way you like them. Round? Oval? Coffin? The choice is yours!
4. Brush away dust
Use your Deluxe Brush to remove all dust from filing.
- Clean nails = better adhesion + longer lasting mani.
5. Disinfect
Wash your hands (again, yes!) or use a disinfectant spray to get your nails completely clean and clear.
6. Optional, but recommended: Use Bond
Apply Bond generously over the nail plate to remove natural oils.
-
This gives the manicure better adhesion and can significantly extend its durability.
7. Start with Clear
This is a bonus step many pros use to protect the nail before adding colour:
-
Apply a thin layer of Base
-
Dip in Clear powder
-
Repeat for each nail
-
Use the cuticle pusher to clean up the edge along the skin
-
Brush away excess powder
This creates a perfect base before you start applying the colours. A bit like a good primer before foundation – and you know how important it is 😉
💖 Voilà!
Your nails are now officially prepped, ready and bursting with confidence – just like you. Now the actual manicure can begin – and it already has a head start because you’ve done the prep work like a true nail queen 👑
